ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: 

 

We use our voices every day to communicate, but the power of vocal sound extends far beyond language and social utility. With intentional practice, the human voice becomes a powerful instrument that can nurture energy flow (qi) in the body. This is “voicework”, a sister of breathwork.

Our guided scream meditation will allow us to tap into the power of the voice in an intimate, collective environment. First we warm up the voice and body through tone immersions and qi-gong exercises, then we scream together. Screaming is a lovely energetic conveyor for emotional release—of anger, fear, or anything else that just can’t seem to find another way out. Channel the energy of the human voice! Last, we'll ground with a live sound bath.  

Herbs will be provided to open the breath and protect the vocal chords. 

No experience necessary.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: 

 

Yullola is a music artist from New York whose work fuses surreal, absurd elements of spirituality with pop soundscapes. She spent her childhood training in hindustani classical music and singing in a gospel choir, culturing a love for using her voice as an instrument. Her creative process also integrates dance to feel how sounds move through the body. Exploring the spectrum from club music to ancient herding calls, she is obsessed with the power of sound. 
 

  

 

ACCESSIBILITY INFO: 

 

Instructed in English.

Located 1 block from the Hudson Amtrak station (a 2 hour ride from NYC Penn Station).

Entry requires a few stairs.

Masks welcomed but not required. 

Vaccination and masking are encouraged. Please take a covid test within 24hrs of class. You will not need to show proof. GOODWITCH Studio will take responsibility for contact tracing if anyone in class becomes positive. Windows will be open and surfaces sanitized.
