Also called the Five Movements, their dynamic interactions form the universal order, generating the cycle of the seasons along with corresponding colors, flavors, sounds, the organs + tissues of our bodies, and even our temperaments + emotions. There is no distinction between body/mind. Matter is not fixed. Everything is movement.
Healing may then be envisioned as the harmonious dance
of these five elemental energies.

In Winter, the emergence of WATER energy draws us inward. Bodies contract + retreat into shelter. A downward flow calls us to introspection, where consciousness pools + reflects in the deep recesses of our being. It is now we have utmost access to our inner selves— the abyss beneath the ice.
Restoration happens here, when we aren't in action in the world or even making plans. Surrendering to stillness, time stops. We descend to a place where consciousness resembles an infinitely mirrored pool. Reflection (-reflection-reflection-) is our only movement. We are contained, yet boundlessly deep.
If Fall is a shedding + Spring is the birth of new life, Winter is the moment between where death = ultimate fertility. Winter dark is the infinite richness of celestial ooze, the all-swallowing fire of a dark star. Water dreams aren't ideas or plans— they are denser, amorphous visions not yet held to the light. Water dreaming, we face our fear of dissolution, releasing narratives that seem to hold the self together. In the darkness, we explore + wonder at our own depths, guided only by bioluminescent intuition. Our strongest visions for the future are born from these inner visions, but first we have to dive deep...
